The other part of Nitmiluk National Park we wanted to explore was Leliyn (Edith Falls). Edith Falls is a series of falls that crash down the surrounding cliff sides and into the one large pool. The falls are located about a one hour drive north from Katherine and should definitely be included in any trip to visit the Katherine region.
Closer:
We arrived at Edith Falls around lunchtime. Although it is recommended to take a leisurely half-hour walk (the Leliyn Trail) round to the secluded upper pools, we decided not to go there and stay for an hour to swim in the warm water of Edith Falls Plunge Pool.
We had a great time there - there was a lot of space to swim for everyone, green grass to lay down and relax and, the most important thing, - there were hot showers and kiosk! There is also a campground nearby, but I haven’t been there, so I am not sure is it a good or not.
It was a lovely afternoon - we had a good rest and by 3pm were ready to move forward. Kakadu National Park, here we come!
