Tarkine Forest Adventure (Dismal Swamp) is a massive Blackwood Forest in a draining sink hole. So once down the bottom there is boardwalk paths meandering their way around the sinkhole floor, it is currently dry on the swamp floor but could be boggy – hence the boardwalk. Dotted around the floor were many sculptures, along with the beautiful forest habitats.
This experience had been on our agenda for a while, as friends of mine recommended to go on the slide. Our 8y.o. son was quite excited to go there, and at $2.00 a slide thought this was going to be great for the family. But unfortunately we were unaware that there was an exorbitant entry fee of $20 per adult. We ended up doing the short walks after we all had a go on the slide (which was great) but only really did the walks to try and get our moneys worth.
The Dismal Swamp walk is an easy walk with lots of photo opportunities. It's kind of a mix between bushwalk and nature reserve with a few pieces of outdoor art thrown in. The fungi varieties are interesting, as are the many kinds of plants growing there. A few pademelons added to the mix.
I would not say that it wasn’t interesting, as there were a lot of information signs for plants and trees, but is was expensive. So bare that in mind and probably save your money for something else.
